An
All
Affirming Congregation is
one that welcomes Gays into all of the life of the local
church, and is gay-friendly, and believes one CAN
be Christian and Gay at the same time, since God
created all peoples including Gays.
We accept all people, no matter where on life's journey they are
at the moment. If you are seeking for truth and knowledge, and seeking
for a closer walk with God, come visit and grow with us.
We believe in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit
of God working in our hearts, souls, bodies,
minds, and in our lives to be more like Jesus. But that
process does NOT change our sexual
orientation any more then it changes our skin color
or gender. These are some things God will never do, nor
have any reason to change.
There are some Affirming Congregations in most
denominations today. You have to go to their local church website
to find more info.
This is opposed to
churches that are Transforming Congregations, which
means one can NOT be Christian and Gay, but they
welcome Gays that are seeking to transform into a "Straight"
lifestyle. We believe that view to be an utter impossibility, sinful,
and also un-Biblical, and against ALL modern scientific intelligence and
information.
Most churches are neither, that is, they ignore gay people
of faith, or else boot them out from their membership
and churches (which is very sad and very un-Christ-like).

Hello Colleagues & Friends!
Would you please save the
weekend of August 9 & 10:
The Rock Metropolitan Community Church, in Chattanooga, TN,
is having a Stewardship Workshop on Saturday,
August 9th @ 2 PM, & having Rev. Patrick Rogers as the
workshop presenter & guest speaker in our pulpit in the Sunday
morning service August 10th @ 11 AM, but we want to "expand our
gathering" for MCC churches, other
congregations, gay/straight affirming organizations & friends who
are within driving distance of Chattanooga. The workshop will begin
2 PM
with a light lunch served after the workshop. We are blessed to
have Rev. Patrick Rogers from MCC Topeka, Kansas..
Rev Rogers recently conducted the following workshop
at the 2008 Region 2 Conference : Successful
Stewardship; Using the Gifts We Already Have
The Rock MCC

Hazel Auction
| Our next church wide fundraiser event will be a
Hazel Auction, which, for
those who do not know, is where people donate special skills,
talents, and abilities for auction. Lawn work, house cleaning,
cooking, laundry service, legal advice, tax help, financial advice,
handy person...... whatever the skill, please make sure to sign up at
The Rock MCC on the sign-up sheet. If you would like to
render one of your gifts as a service to be auction off, please see Mary
Moore or any of the other board members. This is a great
fundraising event with no overhead costs. Plus, if you are trying to get
a business started from your skills, it may be a way to start word of
mouth advertising, especially if you are really good at what you do. If
you don't feel you have skills or talents which could be donated, then
come on out and bid on someone and help us raise money. Thank you all in
advance for the awesome works being done at The Rock MCC. |

The Chosen Generation,
the new Young Adult Ministry for The Rock MCC. If you are between the ages of 18 -
29, please feel free to attend any upcoming meetings for
this new and exciting ministry for The Rock MCC. If you
have any questions about this ministry speak to the Board
Liaison, Bob Austin.
We are looking
forward to welcoming this ministry and watching their spiritual
growth through Jesus Christ and to The Rock MCC!

Chattanooga Cares HIV/AIDS Walk
The Rock MCC is gearing up for the 2008
Chattanooga Cares Strides of March Walk. MCC Feet 4 God WALK
team has always had a strong presence in the Strides of March Walk
since 1999. We are inviting you, your family, co-workers and
neighbors to join our team for the WALK this year.
The Strides of March Walk is on Sunday, March 30, 2008, and there
are two ways to register. You can either send your information to
Team Captain Undra Finley at
undra624@comcast.net or go to the Chattanooga Cares website:
www.chattanoogacares.org.
Go to the Strides of March Page and register to Walk or
Volunteer. Make sure you list your team as MCC Feet 4 God
and Team Captain as Undra Finley or Mary Moore.
Begin collecting your donations today. I will have envelopes
available at this Sunday service. You can either turn your donations
by bringing them to the church with you on Sunday, March 23rd or
bring them to registration table on the day of the WALK.
The picture above is for the 2008 MCC Feet 4 God T-shirt. If you
placed an order for the shirt the monies for the shirt is due by
March 27, 2008, at the choir practice and you give that money to
Mary Moore. Part of the proceeds of the T-shirt money goes toward
the Strides of March. If you would like to order a shirt you must do
by Sunday March 16, 2008!
Your local community that lives with HIV/AIDS needs your support.
Come join a dynamic team that is definitely the most spirited group
at the WALK! Join us for our morning service at The Rock MCC (www.therockmcc.org)
at 11 AM and head out to the park with us!
Undra C. Finley is the walk team captain for 2008.
The MCC Feet for God Team is about to begin
preparations for the Strides of March WALK 2007.
We are currently recruiting team members for this year. If you are
interested in being a team member, please see Undra Finley or Pastor
Ty to sign up.
The first meeting was held Sunday, January 7, 2007 immediately
following the morning service and another was held after the
evening service the same night.
Come Help support the MCC Feet for God Walk Team & our local
community living with HIV/AIDS!
The Strides
of March AIDS Walk is
Chattanooga CARES'
largest fund raiser for the year. It helps with many costs for the
care of those with HIV and AIDS in our area.
The walk was held on
March 26,
2006 at Coolidge Park last year.
Anyone interested in being on this
team are more then welcome.
